The company is exploring for nickel deposits on its Langmuir property near Timmins, Ontario; for nickel-gold-copper on its Cleaver and Douglas properties; and for molybdenum and rare earth elements at recently acquired Desrosiers property.
Pretty decent drill results coming out of GCR's camp today, some of it very close to surface.
NEWS - Significant Near-Surface Nickel Mineralization Intersected on Langmuir
Drilling Highlights Include 1.63% Nickel Over 16.2 Meters; Winter Drill Program Also Tests Deep-Seated VTEM Targets
Vancouver, British Columbia CANADA, December 08, 2008 /FSC/ - Golden Chalice Resources Inc. (GCR - TSX Venture, GCRIF - OTCBB_Pink_Sheets), is pleased to announce additional results from the infill drilling program focused on the Langmuir Nickel Discovery at its wholly owned Langmuir Property, 35 kilometers southeast of Timmins, Ontario.
The infill drilling program continues to further define the Langmuir Discovery Zone discovered in May 2007, and is part of a larger exploration program that includes drilling of deep-seated VTEM conductors identified by previous airborne geophysical surveys.
Highlights from the infill drill program on the Langmuir Discovery Zone include:
* Hole GCL08-63 intersected 1.63% nickel over a drilled width of 16.2 meters from 103.3 to 119.5 meters. This intercept occurred at about 80 meters vertically below the bedrock-overburden interface overlying the Discovery Zone.
* Hole GCL08-65 intersected 1.18% nickel over a drilled width of 14.0 meters from 20.0 to 34.0 meters. This intercept occurred about 50 meters west of Hole GCL08-63, and about 12 meters vertically below the bedrock-overburden interface.
These results indicate the near-surface proximity and open-pit potential of the Langmuir Discovery Zone, while also further establishing the continuity of the mineralization. The results of the infill drilling program will be combined with previous drill results and used toward building a NI 43-101 compliant resource estimate for the Langmuir deposit.
Recent results from Holes GCL08-60 to 08-66 are tabulated below (Figure 1), and include Hole GCL08-64, which intersected 1.48% nickel over a drilled width of 21.9 meters announced in a previous press release.
In addition to the infill drilling program to define the shape and size of the Langmuir Discovery Zone deposit, Golden Chalice is testing recently modeled VTEM conductors identified at depths of more than 300 meters below and along strike of the Discovery Zone.
The Langmuir Property is easily accessible by road and is near existing mining infrastructure in the Timmins camp, host to numerous world-class gold and base metal deposits.
Kevin Montgomery, P.Geo and Peter Caldbick, P.Geo. are the qualified persons for the purposes of National Instrument 43-101 for the Company's Langmuir Project. Project supervision is by Kevin Montgomery and the contents of this press release have been reviewed and approved by Peter Caldbick.
About Golden Chalice
The Company's main focus continues to be its flagship Langmuir Project. The Langmuir Project is easily accessible by road and is near existing mining infrastructure in the Timmins camp, host to numerous world-class gold and base metal deposits. Ongoing exploration is focused on further testing a nickel discovery where drilling in early 2007 intersected 72.5 meters grading 1.14%, capturing broad industry attention.
Golden Chalice has assembled a portfolio of properties in established mining and mineral districts, notably the Abitibi in Ontario, the Bathurst camp in New Brunswick, and a joint-venture project in Nevada.
