So, there is a Chromite Conference in South Africa and I see two ROF names: Cliffs and Probe.

Interesting for Probe to be there. I guess I have to count Xstrata as a bit ROF-ish since they did the metallurgical testing for KWG's bulk samples.

The attendees are posted below.

Also, the RING OF FIRE gets mentioned in the Benefits of attending.

I love it. Part of the itinerary is :

COMPREHEND chrome mining developments in the ring of fire region in Canada and how this will affect the future of the industry .

I wonder how many sleepless nights Xstrata has had thinking about how the ring of fire region in Canada will affect their future in chromite mining?

A conference in South Africa and part of the discussions are:

The focus will be mainly on the non-metallurgical grades such as refractory, foundry and chemical with some coverage of the ferrochrome sector.

Join an international delegation of senior executives in the world’s most important chromite producing region. Meet buyers, sellers, traders and many others at Industrial Minerals Chromite Conference 2011.

Benefits of attending:

UNDERSTAND where demand is heading for chromite in chemical, refractory and foundry markets into 2012
EVALUATE the non-metallurgical markets as a new area of business for the sale of your chrome ore products
DISCOVER if you will continue to be plagued with a shortage of these grades
HOW will the worsening logistics situation continue to impact your margins and operations?
COMPREHEND chrome mining developments in the ring of fire region in Canada and how this will affect the future of the industry
MEET with leading senior executives from the chrome ore market at this industry forum for the non-metallurgical chromite sector
