I agree Marlboro Dog,
A part of me actually thinks that Cliffs may strategically NOT take a run at KWG...there is too much Canada in the way. I think it may be more advantageous for Cliffs to send in a junior joint-venture player that is Canadian based to approach the provincial government for funding and the federal government for funding and the first nations for cooperation rather than a large U.S. giant doing so...even in that case the value of KWG would be realized but just in a longer time horizon (Cliffs is forecasting production in 2015?). More than a thought, Marlie Dog - may be a distinct possibility. But most of what I have read on this site has been from KWGs that are going long on this bet...
On the other hand, Cliffs does like to run their own show and/or may want to completely dominate the chromite market as the global economy recovers so there is merit in a valiant run at KWG as well, although time is definitely against them...althought nothing is stopping them from a friendly takeover post JV.
Open to additional thoughts from those smarter than me...I'm going long.
