Flyby,
You are assuming that everything that Ms. Brown presents as opinion is fact. This particular site is about the free posting of opinions and the sharing of thoughts and ideas about KWG. Everyone has an opinion.
I appreciate the research and diligence that Ms. Brown has taken, but I'm not fully convinced that this scenario will play out exactly as she has articulated.
There are some unknowns that are pivotal in the outcome. First, the easement may in fact be granted, but it could of course be denied. As she has stated in her post, there is no shortage of easement applications in play. This just seams to be the first in the ROF area and there seesm to be a significant reliance on 'settlements' in this process. KWG has invested significantly in exploring this area and the proposed road makes a considerable infringement. This could of course be paid out by the McGuinty in the form of damages and KWG could be sent on their way.
As well, Ms. Brown appears to suggest that the FN will be dealt with as an afterthought. I'm not sure this would be a prudent prediction given the statements coming from the various levels of governments and the our learnigns from such standoffs as Oka and Caledonia. A major development such as the ROF that appears to stand with the likes of Sudbury cannot exclude a peole that will be affected by this for generations. I'm not convinced that some funds toward education, training and a greater-than-1% will suffice - there are procedural aspects of involvement that are much needed, deserved and expected.
Last - assume Ms. Brown's crystal ball is in fine working order and KWG loses out on the railway, etc., and this plays out exactly as she has finely articulated. Recall KWG's 30% JV stake in one of the richest chromite mines thought to be known - this company is not worthless! KWG is definitely worth less without the railway and then maybe a better target for a takeover? Cliffs timed the offer for Spider when it was on the ropes as well...
I'm not convinced that Cliffs will mine Thor first based on the differing quality of ore and ROI - how can they publicly defend that strategy? IMO, worst case they would mine both at the same time at which time the true value of KWG would be realized.
Still long on KWG!
