Election debate turns eye northward

NIPISSING – The Ring of Fire takes centre stage tonight in the Ontario election as TVO’s The Agenda with Steve Paikin focuses on the potential mining development.

Nipissing Progressive Conservative candidate Vic Fedeli will join candidates from the three other parties in a panel discussion about moving the Ring of Fire forward. Also taking part is the Minister of Northern Development and Mines Michael Gravelle, NDP candidate Gilles Bisson and Green Party candidate for Thunder Bay-Superior North.

Leading the discussion is former Ontario premier Bob Rae who is currently representing nine First Nations bands in the region in negotiations for the development.

The Ring of Fire program is part of The Agenda’s Ontario election coverage in the lead up to the June 12 vote. The program airs weekdays at 8 and 11 p.m. and can be viewed live at theagenda.tvo.org at 8 p.m. and will be available in the show’s online video archive later this week.
