"via a $600M slurry pipe north south to Nakina." Where does this cost estimate for a slurry pipeline come from? I thought pipeline costs are generally much less than road building, but CLF's proposed road on this route was estimated at this same $600 million (BananaB).
Some prvious post gave a couple of examples for slurry pipes.
- Brazil: Fe slurry pipe, 420km/$600M.
- Canada: Raglan coal slurry pipe to the west coast, 160km/$300M.
- Cost of NOT initial proposal for Ni slurry pipe (has been replaced by trucking) is also available for comparison. I don't have the number at my disposal but it should yield in the ball-park figure of ~$600M (from memory).
So ~300km for RoF would be in the range $600M (reasonable estimate)
The private road CLF proposed for monster trucks would cost CLF $600M. Anther $600M is expected to come from the Ontario Government, i.e. total cost is ~$1.2B.
