"Richard Williams's Waseco Resources Inc. (WRI: $0.03) seems undecided about its Uniform Surround diamond project in the Attawapiskat region of Northern Ontario. The company currently holds a 5-per-cent interest in the property, which is operated, at least when meaningful work is taking place, by Frank Smeenk's Debut Diamonds Inc. (DDI: $0.005). Mr. Williams had been saying for years that Uniform Surround is sufficiently encouraging that he wanted Waseco to increase its interest by contributing more than its share of exploration costs. That apparently changed within the past year, as the company's website says Waseco "has elected not to incur further exploration expenditures" to increase its ownership. Mr. Williams has apparently flip-flopped again, although his latest statement is hardly a ringing endorsement: "It is possible," he says in Waseco's latest quarterly report, that the company "might seek to increase its share" in Uniform Surround. Waseco says preliminary talks are currently taking place regarding joint exploration and development of the area."
