Interesting discussion on Noront site about Essar Steel maybe buying steel plants in Hamilton and Nanincoke. Essar all ready has the steel plant in Ste Saint Marie.See my post from Sept 15 2014 9.02pm for some back ground to this post.Spoke to Lisa Raitt minister of transport about KWG and Frank Smeenk patent on smelting chromite with natural gas which costs half as much as electricty.In my former post I talked about the cromite smelter being beside the Essar steel mill.This would be to allow the molten steel and the molten chromite to be blended to what ever grade of stainless steel you would want.this would save energy three times,,,,Once with Franks patent for the chromite smelting, then again when blending the chromite while still molten,and the therd time while the steel is still molten.No reheating..All this to say would it be a plan to use lakeboat ore carriers to haul ore to Nanincoke on lake Erie and also to Hamilton which is on lake Ontario.Repeating the building of the gas fired chromite smelters along side of these two as well to also allow the blending of the chromite and the steel while still molten to make Stainless steel..........Personly, I think this is a fine plan .What do you think??
