Lefebvre was pleased his government kept its promise this week to make large investments in First Nations to improve living conditions. The father of three was saddened to see reports of children in Kashechewan suffering terrible rashes, which have since been identified as possible impetago.

Health Minister Jane Philpott is dealing with the crisis, trying to get to the "root cause" of what is going in the northern community, said Lefebvre.

Some children have been evacuated from Kashechewan for medical treatment in other communities.
