"Natural recuperative forces of the markets." This is a quote from this week's FSN from Ben Bernanke. What natural recuperative forces of the markets? The markets do nothing naturally except for what occurs as a result of human input and interaction with them.

This type of thinking goes hand in hand with viewing "the governement" as some disembodied, supernatural entity that can solve problems independent of human interaction. i.e. "The government will fix it., irrespective of what the people involved with the government do."

As far as the natural recuperative powers of the markets goes... This is like someone smashing a car and not taking it to the body shop but rather leaving it in the garage and waiting for the natural recuperative powers of the car to go to work.
