The problem is that Schiff's CNBC appearances have been and most likely will continue to be, merely to serve as a foil for the regulars.

It's a stock routine when he is on the show. The camera cuts from Schiff to the panel of the evening, even as Schiff continues talking, and the smirks, the rolling of the eyes, the displays of disdain from those regulars, are omnipresent.

Sure, Schiff comes across as pompous, argumentative and boastful on his TV appearances, but does he deserve that treatment? Especially from hyped experts whose batting averages are minor league?

Too many vested interests are arrayed against gold to expect a fair shake on these shows and even many web sites, until the sentiment reaches such critical mass with the public that the CNBC types are compelled to jump on the precious-metals bandwagon. And then, my fellow message board contributors, it will be time for us to get off.
