CD,
Thank you for some excellent insight from a long-time holder. I'd made my first buy, foolishly in retrospect, 6-9-08 at $1.66. But, against the customary advice of not averaging down a loser, I did and I got my entire position under $1 average.
Like you, I perceive considerable weight pressing down on this stock. But, the long-term basing action, and recent price action around the $1 range are encouraging.
I also gained insight into price action of these juniors from the Frank Holmes book "The Goldwatchers" in which he describes the early euphoric cycle -- in this case it ran the price to $3 on hopes and dreams-- the consolidation process, which transpires for a variety of reasons, and, if the stock has long-term underlying merit, a rise back above those early, euphoric highs. I'm awaiting that last stage.
I punched out about 75 percent of my position as the move last year to 1.80 faltered, selling mostly in the 1.50's. I've bought it all back at much lower prices and while I already have what I intended originally as a full position in this stock, I'm seriously considering instituting a trading position (long), too, to attempt to capitalize on some of these shorter-term trends.
Again, thanks for your recollections. There is a great value to getting skin-in-the-game memories from stock owners rather than just calling up historic charts and assessing them antiseptically.
May your patience with KBX be amply rewarded and, for selfish reasons, my lesser wait, too.
