Anthony P. Makuch, President, CEO, Director
Anthony Makuch is a professional engineer (Ontario) with over 25 years of management, operations and technical experience in the mining industry, having managed numerous projects in Canada and the United States from advanced exploration through production. Since January 2006 he has been Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for FNX Mining Company Inc. From 1998 to December 2005 he held several positions with Dynatec Corporation, including Operations Manager and VP, Operations. Mr. Makuch is a frequent recipient of mine safety performance awards. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree (Honours Applied Earth Sciences) from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, and both a Masters of Science Degree in Engineering and a Masters of Business Administration from Queen’s University in Ontario.
Brian Hagan - Executive Vice President
Brian Hagan is Executive Vice President. He brings to Lake Shore Gold over thirty years of experience implementing health, safety and environmental management systems in the North American mining industry. His most recent positions have included serving as the Mine Manager of the McCreedy West Mine for FNX Mining Company Inc. and, prior to that, spending 12 years as Director of Health and Safety for Dynatec Corporation, where he introduced and managed health and safety systems, including behavior-based safety programs. Mr. Hagan is a long-time member of the Canadian Society of Safety Engineers and a former chairman of the Ontario Mine Contractors Safety Association.
Mario Stifano - VP & Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Stifano is a chartered accountant with more than 15 years of corporate finance experience, including extensive work in the mining sector. Most recently, he was Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer of Ivernia Inc., an international base metals company based in Toronto, where he completed numerous debt and equity financings, and oversaw the implementation of the financial controls, processes and corporate financing strategies required to bring the Magellan lead mine in Western Australia from the development stage into production. Prior to joining Ivernia, Mr. Stifano´s experience included holding a number of senior finance roles at Noranda Inc., as well as serving as Vice-President of Finance for Investment Administration Sciences, Inc. of Toronto, and Director of Corporate Development for Newcourt Group.
Alasdair Federico - Corporate Secretary and General Counsel
Mr. Federico joins Lake Shore Gold from the business law group of McCarthy Tétrault LLP, where he provided advice on all aspects of corporate and securities law. He has experience in public and private securities offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and continuous and timely disclosure obligations. He has also provided advice to corporations on a variety of commercial, governance and compliance matters.
Eric Kallio - VP Exploration
Eric Kallio is a geologist with close to thirty years of experience working on exploration and underground and open pit mine planning, scoping and feasibility studies in Canada and abroad. Most recently, Mr. Kallio has provided geological consulting services to such companies as Detour Gold Corp., Centerra Gold Corp., Golden Harp Resources and Goldeye Exploration Limited. Past corporate assignments have included serving as Vice-President, Exploration with Patricia Mining Corporation; Exploration Manager, Canadian Shield for Kinross Gold Corporation; and Chief Geologist with Placer Dome Canada Limited´s Dome Mine in Timmins. Mr. Kallio was also a former Director of Holmer Gold Mines Limited prior to its merger with Lake Shore Gold in 2004.
Christopher Stewart - VP Operations
Mr. Stewart is a mining engineer with 15 years experience in the mineral industry and a strong track record in mining services and operations. He has held management positions with several Canadian mining services companies including TESC Mining Services Inc., Dynatec Corporation and BLM Mining Services Inc. Most recently he was a Vice President at TESC Mining Services Inc. Mr. Stewart holds a B.Sc., Mining Engineering from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario and is a licensed professional engineer. He is a member of the Canadian Institute of Mining, the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers and the Ontario Mine Contractors Safety Association. Mr. Stewart will be based in Timmins.
Mark E.F. Utting - VP Investor Relations
Mark Utting is a Chartered Financial Analyst with 20 years of investor relations and corporate communications experience, mainly in the mining and financial services industries. Prior positions in the mining sector include serving as Director, Investor Relations for Rio Algom Limited, a Toronto-based international copper producer, leading up to its acquisition by Billiton plc in 2000, and spending four years as Director, Communications and Investor Relations with Dynatec Corporation, a contract miner and emerging nickel producer in Richmond Hill, Ontario, which was acquired by Sherritt International Corporation in 2007. Most recently, Mr. Utting served as Director, Investor Relations with Extendicare REIT, a Markham, Ontario-based nursing home real estate investment trust.
Merushe (Meri) Verli - VP Finance & Controller
Ms. Verli is a Chartered Accountant with more than a decade of experience in public practice with KPMG. Prior to joining Lake Shore she was a Senior Manager in the firm's audit practice. While at KPMG, Ms. Verli played a lead role in a number of prospectus offerings for mineral companies, including both equity offerings and debt financings. In addition to her accounting experience and professional designation, Ms. Verli also holds a Bachelors of Economy, a Bachelors of Geology and a PhD in Economic Sciences. Ms. Verli joined Lake Shore in 2007 as Controller, and is based in Toronto.
Hannu Virtanen - VP Project Development
Hannu Virtanen has more than 30 years experience as a geological engineer with Inco Limited and was directly involved in the Cochenour-Willans underground exploration gold project in Red Lake, Ontario, as well as the Casa Berardi gold project in Quebec and the Victor nickel copper underground project in Sudbury. He was also extensively involved in developing Inco Exploration’s global environmental, health and safety management practices.
Mr. Virtanen has a BASc in Geological Engineering from the University of Toronto and a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from Laurentian University. He is member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario and the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.

Arnold Klassen
Director, Chair of Audit Committee
Mr. Klassen is a Chartered Accountant and Certified Public Accountant and has over 30 years’ of experience in accounting, audit and tax with 23 years of experience in the mining industry. Mr. Klassen is currently President of 2127301 Ontario Limited, a private consulting company, and prior to that was the Vice President of Finance for Dynatec Corporation from 1988 to 2007. Dynatec Corporation was a publicly traded TSX listed company from 1997 to 2007. He held a similar position with the Tonto Group of Companies from 1984 to 1998. Mr. Klassen holds a degree in Commerce from the University of British Columbia and spent seven years with KPMG prior to becoming Vice President of Finance with the Tonto Group of Companies.
Daniel G. Innes
Director, Chair of Environment and Safety Committee
Daniel Innes, past Chair, President and CEO of Lake Shore Gold Corp., has over 35 years experience in the mining industry. Mr. Innes is also a founding principal, past Director and VP Exploration of Southwestern Resources Corp. He has worked in a variety of metal environments in many parts of the world, mainly Brazil, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Mexico, USA, Canada, China, and Australia.
Brian R. Booth
Director
Brian Booth has explored for nickel-copper, precious and base metal deposits throughout Canada , Europe and southeast Asia for 22 years. Prior to joining Lake Shore, Mr. Booth was Manager of Exploration - North America and Europe of Inco Limited, one of the world's largest mining companies. Mr. Booth began his career as a geologist on the Casa Berardi gold discoveries in Québec and other gold exploration projects in Québec and the Maritimes, including underground testing of a gold deposit in Nova Scotia.
He is credited with the discovery of the Douay West gold deposit, conducted the preliminary assessment of the Voisey's Bay Ni-Cu-Co discovery, and was involved, through a joint venture with Highlands Gold, in the discovery of the Beutong copper porphyry in Sumatra , Indonesia . Mr. Booth was awarded an honorary lifetime membership in the Indonesian Mining Association for service as Assistant Chairman of the Professional Division.
K. Sethu Raman
Director
Dr. Raman is a professional geologist with 35 years of international experience in all phases of exploration and development and has held senior executive positions in several public mining companies. Since 1986, Dr. Raman was President and CEO of Holmer Gold Mines Limited, which over the years discovered and developed the Timmins West Gold Property. On December 31, 2004, Lake Shore Gold Corp. acquired all of the issued shares of Holmer by way of plan of arrangement. Dr. Raman holds a PhD in geology from Carleton University, Ottawa and a UNESCO Post-Graduate Diploma from the University of Vienna, Austria.
Michael D. Winn
Director
Mr. Winn is currently President of Terrasearch Inc., a consulting company that provides analysis on mining and energy companies. Mr. Winn has worked in the oil and gas industry since 1983 and the mining industry since 1992. He completed graduate course work in accounting and finance and received a BSc in geology from the University of Southern California.
Jorge Benavides
Director
Mr Benavides has thirty years' experience in the mining industry. He joined Hochschild Mining in 2001 and prior to his current position, served as Head of Exploration and Geology for the Group. Previously, he spent eight years working for the Phelps Dodge Mining Company in South America and Mexico, including as Exploration Manager for the Andean Region. Mr Benavides holds an MSc in Ore Deposits and Exploration from Stanford University and a BSc in Geological Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines.
Ignacio Rosado
Director
Ignacio Rosado has been the Chief Financial Officer of the Group since 2005. Previously, he was Senior Engagement Manager for Latin America for McKinsey & Company from 2000 to 2005. Ignacio began his career in banking having worked for Banco Wiese Sudameris in Peru (1992-1994) and in Banco de Crédito del Peru. Mr. Rosado holds a MBA from the University of Michigan Business School and a BSc in Economics from the Universidad del Pacífico in Peru.
Jonathan Gill
Director
Mr. Gill is a Professional Engineer who brings more than 45 years of mining experience to the board of Lake Shore Gold, much of it working in senior mine management roles for Inco Limited in its Ontario and Manitoba divisions and for PT Inco in Indonesia. Since retiring in 2003, Mr. Gill has worked on a number of project assignments for Inco, both in Canada and at the Goro project in New Caledonia; as well as for other companies involving reviews of such projects as FNX Mining Company´s Sudbury operations, the Ambatovy nickel project in Madagascar and the Onca Puma project in Brazil. Mr. Gill is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario and is a former employer Chair of Ontario´s Mining Legislative Review Committee.
