Wanderer, that could be part of it too. Although the banks are not at a bottom and they may (likely to do so in my opinion) sink significantly lower than they are, there is a strong argument for a buy and hold for the long term. So I think some brokers could be reasonably suggesting to long term investors that they get in at this stage (or at least at the prices earlier in the week.)
