Decision on Instrument:
A new Certificate of Approval (air) has been issued on April 1, 2009 to include one (1) mine shaft exhaust (return air raise), one (1) diesel fired emergency generator, one (1) diesel fuel storage tank and propane fired comfort heaters. The proposed equipment will service the Hart Mine, a nickel ore mine located in Timmins, Ontario that is owned and operated by Liberty Mines Inc. Processes emitting contaminants to the atmosphere include drilling, space heating, maintenance welding, and fugitive emissions from storage piles, material handling, and roadways. Contaminants emitted to the atmosphere from the site include nitrogen oxides, particulate matter, silicon dioxide and metals such as nickel and cobalt.
