I think it will be a very long strike. I don't see any reason for management to come back to the table with a better offer, if they come back at all. They have a lot of inventory, so they don't need production. For the union, this is an awful time to strike, they have no leverage.

On the other hand, I think the union needs to strike. They are being told to accept a huge cut in pay, and if they do they will not get it back. The nickel bonus has been a great thing for the workers, not so good for the company. The company can make incredible increases in profit margins by eliminating the nickel bonus.... and in not having to pay striking workers for the next number of months.

In my opinion, these workers will not be back to work in 2009.
