Message: New Li-Ion Superconductor Enables Safe, High-Performance All-Solid-State Batteries

In the field of Li Ion battery research the area of concentration for much of that field centers around developing solid state lithium batteries, not the least reason would be the added safety over lithium ion batteries with a liquid electrolyte solution.  Ok, so why is this important?  Well, the advantages of a solid state lithium ion battery over a liquid electrolyte solution lithium ion battery actually go beyond just the safety issue and developoing an economical solid state lithium ion battery goes one step further in securing lithium as a "solid" choice for batteries many years into the future.

One of the important problems with solid state lithium batteries has been the slower lithium ion transfer in a solid state medium vs the same movement in a liquid electrolyte medium.  It appears that researches may have soved that problem and come up with a way for solid state lithium ion batteries to have an equal rate of movement of Lithium ions, even though they move through a solid medium vs a liquid medium.  The article below addresses that research:

"The new solid electrolyte material, developed by KIST researchers, has an Li-ion conductivity of 10.2 mS/cm, which is equivalent to that of a conventional liquid electrolyte at room temperature, and still maintains electrochemical stability under various battery operating conditions."
