Message: Re: Seeking Alpha finally finds out about LAC's plan for a lithium ion battery plant on campus at Thacker Pass

Once again the speculation of a Tesla-LAC deal is being thrown out there.  The Seeking Alpha article that touts LAC's proposed on campus lithium ion battery plant at Thacker Pass and also rehashes the same old speculation about Tesla-LAC deal.  This may in fact happen, but there is no current proof that it is a "done deal", just a ton of speculation.  No doubt the Share Price will come back up some again on this particular speculation, but that just means that if the Tesla "deal", which really isn't a deal just yet, falls through and vaporizes then the trip back down on the Share Price could be quick and deep, unless another less currently ballyhooed deal with another lithium player takes its place.

A lot of this current speculation is tied in with Tesla's announced "Battery Day" as if it is  a sure thing that a Tesla-LAC deal will be announced on "Battery Day" in late September.  There are 2 possibilities:  it will be confirmed OR there will be no mention of the highly speculated deal with Tesla.  Either possibility has repercussions for LAC's Share Price.

According to the Seeking Alpha article:

"Lithium Americas has a potential mine named "Thacker Pass" that is, as I write, going through the BLM (Bureau of Land Management) approval process in northern Nevada. Given the proximity to Tesla, it is not so crazy an idea that Tesla might partner up with the company in a bid to secure lithium. "

I give credit to the author of the Seeking Alpha article, he does give consideration to the possibilities that other manufacturers of EVs besides Tesla may construct a deal with LAC:

"Maybe Tesla pairs up with Lithium Americas or maybe someone (U.S.-based) pairs up with them such as Volkswagen (OTCPK:VWAGY). Volkswagen is currently exploring lithium technology via Nano One (OTCPK:NNOMF), and they have some lithium deals in place but securing domestic mines would benefit them. The takeaway here is that LAC is entering into the battery market for cars and if Tesla or Volkswagen partner with them, the supply chain is not only shortened from Argentina but it is also secured, not to mention costs reduced."

So Austin Craig, the author of the Seeking Alpha piece, has at least some degree of circumspection about the possibilities and does not wear the monocular vision glasses of so many speculators and insist that LAC must make a deal with Tesla soon for lithium.  The bottom line is that LAC at Thacker Pass has many separate options to pursue and is definitely not tied to Tesla's apron strings.... yet!   This is dispite the 100% assurances of so many Pumpers that the Tesla-LAC agreement is a done deal.  It is indeed a possibility, but so are other deals with other companies as well.  Time will tell just exactly what transpires and whether or not the Tesla pumpers are correct.
