Very significant comment, WB, about the temp out at Thacker Pass.  It was 98 degrees here in Sparks at 5:30 PM today, must have been 100 at 4.  There is every possibility temps will be over 100 tomorrow and on Sunday for the "Training".

Worse on Sunday:  Orovada, NV Day and Night Weather | AccuWeather

There is no weather station at Thacker Pass, but Kings River Val is only 9 miles west and the predictions for Saturday and Sunday are about the same as for Oravada, which is East of Thacker Pass:

Weather Street: KING RIVER, NEVADA (NV) 89425 weather forecast

No matter how you slice it, air quality will be poor in the mornings and afternoon temps will be 100 to 104 with ZERO possibilty of rain.  Miserble conditions if you are not in the shade, well hydrated and adapted to hot and dry conditions already.

"Volunteers" heeding Max Wilbert's supplication to "Come on out to Thacker Pass" will be environmentally challenged if their normal routine in such conditions is to sit inside with the A/C at full blast and a tall cool one firmly in their grip in one hand and the TV remote control in the other hand.  Of course, that doesn't describe those Native Americans that will be there, but for militant environmentalists living in the city it will be something of a climate shock when they step out of their air conditioned high carbon foot print SUVs to enjoy the "Training" session at Thacker Pass.  Of course they will first look for shade.... only to discover that isn't something in abundance either.

Maybe there will be high powered fans?  Nope, that would concede to industrial civilization and that, of course, is not a concession that Mr. Wilbert would condone at a "Training" session.  Oh, well.  It is what it is.

Volunteers:  Go take on the day!

Okiedo... enjoying a cool drink and lower inside temps tomorrow, not at Thacker Pass.
