Very interesting post, Neil. Thanks for your diligence and research! I was particularly interested in your comments about the "massacre" situation in relationship to Thacker Pass historical context. Wouldn't that be a kicker if there was no veracity in the claim of a massaacre collocated on the site of the proposed LAC Thacker Pass mine ?
Oral history of such a massacre may or may not be born out in a concerted research of the claim and if not born out then that would certainly not reflect positively on the position of the Plaintiffs in this case. It would make the work proposed to be done in accordance with the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) by Far Western Anthropological Research Group, Inc. from Carson City, Nevada, seem to be a very important factor if that work is allowed to proceed and in the process of that work there should be no findings to support anything suggestive or supportive of the massacre claimed to have occured at this specific location.
Far Western, of course, can not proceed without the specific OK from Judge Du and she is to rule on the Native American legal actions requesting prevention of the anthropological survey from becoming a reality in her decision later this month, August, 2021.
Again, thanks, Neil!
