Message: Fluoroborate Salts.... the new "Salt of the Earth" as applied to Lithium battery electrolytes?

Calling cars into the service „just in a case“ is the “old dinosaurs” approach. The “new visionary” is not to give a damn, hope that not too many would die and let lawyers to deal with consequences. At best a software patch to limit the charging speed would be issued. I would not limit the problem only to LG, because a battery cell is a commodity. They all use NMC, because that has the highest energy density.

Somewhere I have seen an article, which said, that there isn’t any significant difference between the laptop battery cell and the cell used in EV, apart the size of course. However there is the difference in charging and re-charging speed. And all those “ludicrous modes” and similar way of driving do not help that issue. Hence it is necessary to make a sophisticated cooling system to make sure, that the head generated while (re)charging is taken away.

IMHO, it would make sense to use the “Lithium-Ferrum-Phosphate” cells, but that does not produce enough energy to make the range over 400 miles and still keep the weight of the car acceptable. Maybe some smaller “city” cars. And of course no “ludicrous mode”. Anyway, either way, they all need Lithium :-), so who cares. All we need is that by Friday, the Thacker Pass is not a synonym for Little Bighorn.
