Regarding the 100,000 yuan increase in the price of lithium by Ganfeng, I believe there may be some misunderstanding on the issue. I shared your impression at first, having learned about it from a tweet by Simon Moores, founder of Benchmark Mineral Intelligence who directly stated that this would result in $40,000/kg lithium carbonate in Oct/Nov, up from $25,000 spot price in China. However, Reuters is reporting that this price increase specifically applies to lithium metal, currently 865,000 yuan ($135,000 USD), being different from lithium "chemicals" (i.e., carbonate and hydroxide). One or the other appears to have it wrong. While I want to believe Simon Moores, my gut is telling me that this is for lithium metal. I would have a very hard time believing a 60% jump in the price of lithium carbonate as ~12% price in lithium metal would be more reasonable. Links below.
