“I’m going to stop construction and progress for 90 days. That will give the plaintiffs an opportunity to get to the appellate court,” he said.

The Reno-based Ormat Technologies Inc. had intended to begin bulldozing work this week at the site in northern Nevada's high desert about 100 miles (160 kilometers) northeast of Reno.

How much pollution would be prevented by another geothermal plant in Nevada?  We already have existing geothermal plant in Nevada.  Not to different from the question:  How much pollution would be prevented by EVs powered with lithium batteries when the lithium is produced at Thacker Pass?

Granted, not a simple question when you consider where the energy comes to recharge those batteries, but can we really expect environmentally friendly solutions to come from continuing to ride the ICE horse?

The bane of environmentlists today must be the schism they face in trying to be true to their supposed tenent of environmentalism when their present course seems to encourage more polution from ICE vehicles on the one hand vs elimination of all ICE and EV transport on the other.  Hardly a viable alternative and more consistent with a flight into the world of fantasy.

If they stop the mining of lithium and of Rare Earth elements in order to preserve artifacts, flora and fauna that may or may not be at risk then by default they are encouraging society to continue on its dependence upon fossil fuels, despite how they personally may want to place us all back on the Shoe Leather Express and possibly encourage the return of Hay Burners for transport.

If, for some unfathomable reason society decided to agree to their most outlandish proposals and return to the days before ICE transportation then they effectively throw civilization into reverse.

Not going to happen.

Attorneys have no morals so it will always be easy for attorneys to slide into the fray in order to enhance their own pocketbook or to capitalize on the notoriety obtained from jousting windmills.

In the meantime environmentalists will continue to rant and rave against the evils of the Internal Combustion Engine while, at the same time, they sabotage all efforts to improve the very environment they claim to worship.
