Cal, that "woke movement" tactic of pressuring large corporations, in this case it was a large educational institution, has been used before by various political organizations and "movements" to pressure someone or something to make investment decisions based on the current "social movement" making the biggest splash at the moment. It has also been used as a shakedown tactic to basically extort money from a corporation or some big institution.
Nothing new under the sun. Each institution or corporation has, when presented with this type of situation, an option: To give in to the "pressure" of what is woke at the moment OR to proceed ahead based on their perception of the best financial move when taking into consideration their investment.
A lot of the decision making process depends on how they anticipate their company or institution will be perceived by society in general. The group applying the pressure may or may not truly represent the wishes of society in general, but regardless of wheather that group is truly representative of the overall opinion of society it will jack up the heat anyway it can by using psychological tactics to the hilt and expressing its viewpoint at the loudest possible volume and via the greatest number of kow towing media sources as possible in order to give the "perception" that whatever it is they have as their goal of the moment is something that the vast majority of people in that society want to see happen. Truth is irrelevant, Perception rules the day.
It doesn't matter whether or not the goal of the pressure organization is truly representative of the majority of people in that society. What matters to the pressure organization is that they achieve their desired "perception" in the mind of their target.
They always have historical precedent here in America to comfort them in this game since this sort of thing has been done over and over again in the past and with considerable success.
They achieved the desired success in the mind of Princeton and by affecting a particular goal of a specific "perception" in Princeton they were able to achieve the desired goal of changing the behavior of Princeton so that Princeton sold its shares in LAC.
Reality was clobbered by "Perception"
Chalk up a "win" for Psychological Warfare.
Won't be the last time that happens in real life.
Onward through the FOG and through "Perceptions", correct AND incorrect perceptions.
