The "Good News":  Spot price is still above $10,000 per metric ton, at least via the market source I have previously posted here.

Bad News:  The LAC/LAAC share prices still stink, big time.

Possible "Good News":  Technology continues to advance regarding both lithium batteries and regarding solar cells.  For the latest regarding the improvement of solar cells it looks like that there is real potential to boost the efficiency of solar cells above the current limit of 27%.  Prediction is that 45% efficiency is possible with this new technology:

So, if this takes off then there should be a massive increase in the quantity of solar generated electricity. "IF"  Where have we heard that word before?  Still, it is within the realm of possibilities and the greater amount of solar energy produced then the greater will be the utilization of that electricity by not only vehicles but by a vast array of other types of energy loads in our industrialized society.  That means a greater need for batteries to store the excess energy produced in the daytime so that nightime loads can be met.  Voila, presto gizmo, Abracadabra, whammo, ipso facto!

All of that just means a greater demand for lithium.  Joe Friday:  "Nothin' but the truth, Ma'm"

It cold happen.  Could and should are two different things.  I have no interest in "should".  "Could", on the other hand, has some semblance of emotional comfort to it.  "Did happen", in contrast, is the desired end point regarding increase in demand for lithium and, unfortunately, that goal is not near at hand.  The "hope" is that it isn't that far off, either.

More "FOG", but developments in both lithium ion battery technology and in solar cell technology continue to happen and work never stops in laboratories around the world where researches seek to make solar cells and batteries just a little bit better, step by step.  That research continues regardless of whether LAC/LAAC share price is in the dumpster or on the mountain top.  As new technological developments in both areas slowly enter the market place they will have a positive bearing on solar utilization and on the need for better and more electricity energy storage both in stationary applications and, more germain to the future of LAC/LAAC, in the field of mobile application storage.
