Shock to the system: Study shows certain wearable gadgets could interfere with implantable cardiac electronic devices (medicalxpress.com)

It isn't going to afffect a huge segment of the wearable electronic device market, but it will have some effect.  POET has aspirations on being a future important contributor to the wearable electronic gadget market.

One of the items mentioned in this study as possibly adversely affecting imbedded cardiac pacemakers and imbedded cardiac defibrillators is the ubiquitous iPhone!

Advice is given, as an example, that those with implanted cardiac defibrillators and/or cardiac pacemakers keep their iPhones at least 6 inches away from their implanted electronic device and that they use their iPhones on the opposite side from where they have their electronic implanted device.

This isn't devastating news for manufactures who make equipment or equipment components that will be utilized in wearable electronic devices because the vast majority of potential buyers of this type of wearable device don't have implanted electronic cardiac devices, but for those who do then they should be aware of the possible adverse consequence of adding electronic wearables to their present shopping list and they should especially be caustious about the recommended restraints on using their iPhone devices and heed those recommendations mentioned.
