MacDonald Mines Outlines Targets on 5 Distinct Project Areas; 5000 Metre Drill Program to Commence in Late June

TORONTO, Jun 16, 2008 (Canada NewsWire via COMTEX News Network) --

MacDonald Mines Exploration Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:BMK) ("MacDonald" or the "Company") is pleased to announce it will commence it's Spring 2008 drill program in late June, covering targets on five project areas in the "Ring of Fire" District of the James Bay Lowlands. The drill program will operate through to the end of October 2008.

Drill Program

Approximately 30 holes, totaling 5,000 metres will be diamond-drilled within five of the Company's project areas, where each individual project area represents a separate property within MacDonald Mines' extensive land position. The five properties are made up of distinct but separate claim groups distributed over a wide geographical area that is underlain by similar geology.

The Five Project Areas

The drill program will focus on geophysically defined targets on the following five Project Areas;

<<
1. McNugget Property (100% MacDonald owned, including 6 claim Hawk
Uranium JV Property)
2. Salo Property (100% MacDonald owned)
3. Wellington Property (MacDonald, Canadian Orebodies, Coordinates
Capital Corp.)
4. Adelaide Property (MacDonald, Temex, Canadian Orebodies)
5. Hornby Property (MacDonald and Temex)

Description of Targets

Hadyn Butler, P.Geo. Director and Chief Geologist for MacDonald Mines commented,

"MacDonald's recently completed James Bay Lowlands airborne geophysical surveys have located both "Distinctive coincident magnetic-electromagnetic targets, as well as long stratigraphic conductors." Multiple discrete (short strike length) coincident magnetic-electromagnetic targets have been found on all Project Areas and show similar discrete magnetic-electromagnetic signatures known to be associated with the Noront Double Eagle nickel-copper-platinum-group-element ("Ni-Cu-PGE") sulphide deposit, where the magnetic component is mostly pyrrhotite. The geophysical target strike length is often short-forming discrete magnetic and electromagnetic surface anomalies with the long axis of mineralization (due to tectonic stretching) towards the vertical. Geophysical target discreteness of this kind is a known part of the Archean tectonic pattern, which is now beginning to present themselves in the James Bay Lowlands "Ring of Fire".

MacDonald's on-going ground geophysical surveys have defined prime geophysical target positions, as outlined, in preparation for the upcoming diamond drilling campaign."

The Spider-KWG McFaulds discovery, which included 8.02% copper over 18.8 metres from hole MCF 04-57, and the very recent WSR VMS discovery, which included 131.9 metres of semi-massive to near massive sulphides in Hole 5.01-09, outlines the features of the volcanogenic massive sulphide ("VMS") deposits in the area, where the magnetic component is mostly magnetite in the VMS feeder zone.

Hadyn Butler, further commenting on the evolving geological description of the James Bay Lowlands, stated the following;

<<
- To this time, exploration drilling results of formational conductors
in the "Ring of Fire" regional greenstones have been identified as
sulphidic.
- Many large well-differentiated gabbro chambers containing lower
ultramafic (peridotite and pyroxenite) and chromitite layers, as well
as upper titanomagnetite layers, occur near the base of the regional
greenstone succession.
- The volcanic covering above these gabbro chambers contain significant
VMS deposits and laterally extensive sulphidic units, some with a
signature suggesting VMS stratigraphic horizons akin to the "Key-
Tuffite horizon" in the Matagami VMS Camp in Quebec.
- The gabbros themselves likely provided the "heat engine" that created
the VMS deposits in the volcanic successions above.
- In this greenstone succession, the basal layer of the gabbro chambers
is the target horizon for Ni-Cu-PGE mineralization.
- MacDonald has several discrete geophysical targets in this same
stratigraphic position, and probable repeat sequences (folded and/or
faulted) farther south, east and west of the greenstone base layer.
- Early drilling campaigns proved that MacDonald has a number of VMS
target horizons.
