Message: Hiring Back Chemists?

This is another anecdotal incident which points to going the distance alone IMO. There are 2 types of chemists involved in the pharmaceutical field- analytical and research. The analytical chemist usually tests for purity in compounds created in synthesis kind of like a quality control check on the formulation line. This type of job is associated with ongoing manufacturing.

The research chemist on the other hand spends most of their time isolating compounds to remove impurities or alter pH in chemical processes. They are also involved in creating new paths in synthesis of end result chemical compounds. This type of work is done to streamline the process and reduce the expense associated with raw chemicals and the number of steps involved in the process.

While I am happy to hear there may be a reason to rehire former employees since it is always cheaper to rehire than to retrain, the expense concerns me. The last time we saw MannKind gear up was before the 2nd CRL. It seems as if we are still a long way away from commercial production unless the trips to China and the middle east don't hinge upon FDA approvals.
