If memory serves, and it likely does not, if it was a mistake to switch, it was made pretty early on when MNKD continually said that they never intended to market this treatment using the Medtone, but did want to get it approved that way. Once they took that position, they had put at least a small dagger into any marketing they might have done with the Medtone. They also gave the FDA a perfect way out of granting approval - why approve this treatment if it weren't going to market anyway?

I do not have an opinion whether or not it was, indeed, a mistake.
