I am type 2 for at least 10 years (diagnosed 2002). When I went on the Bydureon trial my A1c went from 8-9 down to about 7.2 within 6 months and then into low 6's as I lost weight. A side affect of Bydureon is weight loss. I have lost 30 pounds and kept it off. I was taken off of Glucotrol after 2 years on the study because of the lows. I am still on Metformin, but my doctors say it is not hard on the pancreas like Glucotrol is so they recommended continuing it. My morning readings were always 180-220 and with Bydureon the stay between 110-120. Occasionally I hit 140 but not often.

Because of my numbers I have not been qualified for other studies I have applied for. Many studies, including Afrezza, require higher A1c's for someone to qualify. If I had the opportunity I would volunteer in a heartbeat.
