i asked an endo doc the other day about inhaled insulin. her brief response reminded me of something. endo docs don't know this is coming, despite all these little conferences and presentations and maybe a little exposure to the ADA here and there in the past. there isn't "quiet chatter" on the endo or family practice mssg boards about a blockbuster coming down the pipes. ER docs don't give a crap about any drug that would be used in the ED that is more than one year from FDA approval, let alone commercialization delays. point is, afrezza is not on anyone's radar yet that would be prescribing this stuff (aside from a few docs invested or academics). we need a partner who will be putting up big cash for marketing lots of TV adds and mass media exposure. it will be funny to finally see a commercial about afrezza (marketing slogun= "hey, it's not exubera, dummy"). i don't know if just any partner can do this. so yeah, the docs that will be prescribing this stuff- 99.9% of them know nothing of afrezza right now. and most diabetics don't know about this either. we need a partner that can blow cash and get exposure big time. otw it's a great product that doesn't get substantial market penetration for 5 years as opposed to 3.
