Whether to participate or deciding not to participate:
In my opinion, this and decisions like these need to be looked at strictly from a business perspective. Keep it simple. I do not deny Al Mann's drive to help human kind, but when there are competing interests; I think he would agree that he is making business decisions first- as steward of MannKind.
If situations at MannKind were to be negative, at some point, Mr. Mann is going to draw the line in the sand and say I can no longer continue to back this project... no matter how much money I have. Hence he is making a business decision.
I made a business decision to not participate because I chose to spend my time making more money doing something more worthwhile for me. In my case, I run a samll six-bed, inpatient drug and alcohol rehab center. I chose to spend my time growing that and helping others instead of sticking it to Mnkd. Again, that is just a personal business decision.
