Prior to becomeing a poor mountaineer I ran a statistical analysis unit for a financial institution. The rule of thumb is 80% of hypothesis fail in last 20% of analysis. Executive management would always want to know the final results prior to final analysis. I learned that if you gave early positive opinion and then later had to retract, it was almost as if the test failed because of me (kill the messenger syndrome). Best to just wait this one out.
