A couple of books that have been suggested on one of the boards I read are: "The Rise & Fall of the Roman Empire" and "Altlas Shrugged". Think they came up around as a commentary on the the society of entitlement that we live in today.
Read a book recentley the heads of the Bank of England, France, Germany and Federal Reserve post WW1. Also a couple recommended by a Col I was talking to in the mess that are predictive of the place of the US in world politics in 10 years and a followup one addressing 100 years out (Next 10 years, Next 100 years?).
