TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - April 8, 2008) - Noront Resources Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:NOT) ("Noront") has recently advised Joint Venture partner Hawk Uranium Inc. (TSX VENTURE:HUI) ("Hawk") that Noront has commenced the 2008 Exploration Field Programme on the 50/50 Joint Venture Property in the "Ring of Fire" McFaulds Lake Area, Northeastern Ontario.
Noront has further advised Hawk that it has completed in excess of 345 line kilometers of helicopter borne AEROTEM2 and Magnetic Geophysical Surveys by Aeroquest International Ltd at 100m line spacing over the JV Property and have received preliminary interpretation from Scott Hogg & Associates Ltd. of Toronto, Ontario.
A linecutting program covering in excess of 132 kilometers, has been initiated over a number of Priority 1 Geophysical Targets. This will be followed by a number of ground geophysical surveys including HLEM - Max-Min, ground magnetics & VLF, as a first pass, followed by gravity and TDEM (time domain electromagnetic) surveys to better refine the airborne geophysical anomalies to depth.
It is anticipated that once the geophysical surveys are completed, a diamond drilling program will be recommended utilizing one of the three recently acquired drill rigs owned and operated by Orbit Forages of Val d'Or, Quebec, on assignment at the Noront "Ring of Fire" project.
