I contacted ScotiaMcLeod today and was told that I can create a TFSA account online starting on 22 December 2008. It would take about 10 minutes. After that, I can start to use it as of 2 January 2009 and that I can use it like any other trading account, including trading equities of my choice.

Consequently, I will definitely use this TFSA account. It would really be great to hit a 10 bagger (or even a 2 bagger!)and then not have to pay taxes when/if I take the profits out.
