At this state of the game I wouldn't discout anything. Management feels these "protestors" are looking for "pay-offs" if I read between the lines and they refuse to give in .

As far as the shorts...maybe....but I feel the shorts are all based in Toronto and New York and have little touch with local protestors...although they might....as you say they have a lot to gain by this company not starting to pour gold on time.
