But why do they use directional drilling then, they may as well get on top and drill directly down.

And how will they know if directional drilliing get in the oil pool situated under another area...

I questioned that because meo is 1.25 miles away from the blow out and it is possible using directional drilling to reach that pool.

I guessed that the longest directional drilling was around 30,000 feet.
