Petrojet
Results in Conventional Oil Reservoir
Conventional oil applications of the Wellbore Extender have been made in Wyoming, Louisiana and Venezuela. The Wyoming application is typical and was a carefully controlled demonstration of PetroJet® technology.
Two wells with multiple PetroJet® lateral were done in a Texaco field at La Barge, in Wyoming, a field that has many discontinuous accumulations of oil which are costly to produce. For production and decline date comparison, the many nearby offset wells without lateral were used. For example, in an old well, (J634) depleted in residual oil, the laterals increased production by about 1.6 times and halved the rate of decline. In a new well (G634Y) with Wellbore Extender laterals, production was increased more then 4 times compared with typical offset vertical wells.
In other field work, in a conventional oil PetroJet® lateral application in an independent producers Caddo-Pine Island Field, Louisiana multiple new wells (Allen and Tyson) into which lateral were placed showed an average increase of 6 times or more greater stable production over long periods (3-5 years), as compared to nearby conventional vertical wells without laterals. Again, the decline rate in production was markedly reduced over adjacent wells.
In Budare field in eastern Venezuela, (Corpoven, PdVSA) a confidential test program was made to evaluate the effect of the Wellbore Extender on penetration of near wellbore damage. A single lateral increased the production of a typical good producer BDV-15 from 6.2 m3/day to a stable production of about 62 m3/d per day, a 10 times increase in production.
