I believe it`s the system manufacturers that are stirring up the controversy...they thought or maybe even were led to believe they should be protected by the chip manufacturers but instead are realizing that they are liable also. The strategy all along has been to have the system manufacturers put pressure on the chip manufacturers. It looks like its happening.

More pressure from courts and now more pressure from customers puts lots of pressure to do something quickly...like settle to get folks off your back.
