LAKE FOREST, Calif., Jan. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Panasonic Avionics Corporation announced today that it has been selected to supply its advanced new eX2 in-flight entertainment (IFE) system for several aircraft by All Nippon Airways (ANA), the launch customer for the new 787 aircraft from Boeing. eX2 is the next generation product in Panasonic's X Series product line. This advanced in-flight entertainment and communication system allows airlines more storage, more passengers per audio/video server and faster loading times. eX2 is smaller, lighter than the existing System 3000i with up to 30% reduction in weight and a second-to-none redundancy solution. In addition, eX2 has a higher degree of customization. Customers can choose widescreen format monitor sizes ranging from 9" up to 23" in first class. Thanks to the increased storage capacity airlines can provide enhanced applications and a vast array of content to their passengers. "ANA's selection of the eX2 in-flight entertainment system is consistent with our goal to provide easier system control and more enjoyable content to our passengers," said Osamu Shinobe, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Sales of ANA. "eX2 was also highly rated from the standpoint of reliability. We can also make significant savings in fuel consumption, and thus be kinder on the environment, thanks to the weight reduction." "Panasonic is very pleased to have been selected by ANA to supply our new eX2 system for their 787 aircraft," said Paul Margis, President of Panasonic Avionics Corporation. "This selection by ANA is especially pleasing as it is the first for this exciting new aircraft from Boeing."
