Some good and thoughtful posts folks- at 1st I was a bit worried, less so now.
Seems obvious someone provided these pubpat guys with the detail to file this claim-- essentially throwing anything remotely sounding like the 336 processor on the wall to see if they can BS the USPTO with engineering arm-waving and double-speak that these components/capabilities are one-in-the-same "products" or inventions. Create confusion for a pending court case-- novel idea (sarcasm).
If you give credence to the request to cancel the patent, you essentially buy into the notion that all the engineering/legal staff of those companies who settled and signed up are idiots. I don't buy that, as it seems reasonable that is the 1st thing you would do is examine whether the patents are legitimate-- go to the foundation of the product.
