Well, I guess you got me there! It's still weird, the "how this would appear to the court/a jury" thing dangles. In light of the this, which I think would be a BIG concern for NEC E A, I would think that settlement negotiations are actively being pursued. NEC E A is the chip manufacturing arm of NEC, right? More to haggle over....
But this and my prior post are just further evidence that I KNOW nuttin'!

BTW: I did find it very strange in that org chart that NEC E A had a "dotted line" reporting relationship to NEC Corporate. I used to maintain Org charts for a Hughes Aircraft subsidiary. Dotted lines usually indicate more an "arms lenght" reporting relationship, with the "sub" party/entity actually beholden to someone else (e.g., a consultant, or an employee/department providing support on a part-time basis, who actually directly report to someone else). Does NEC E A sell chips outside NEC? If so there may be an explanation for this hidden in there. And I'm assuming that Org chart depiction methods are universal.....
