Regarding the PPT chart with the royalty rates…There were no numbers on the Y axis (vertical). Thus, it was simply intended to be a pictorial that painted the picture of a decent hockey stick pattern with royalty rates increasing as they moved towards the upper right of the chart over time.
Leckrone made it very clear, we are NOT going after the chip manufacturers. We are currently going after the system (box) folks. According to Dan L., there are fewer aggregate dollars across the limited set of chip manufactures. He said that we don’t want to “burn” our royalty opportunity on the chip manufacturers. And that there are many more dollar opportunities across those who are adding value down stream from the chip manufacturers. He went on to state that Intel and AMD were special “1-time” deals, prior to the development of the MMP approach; the foreseeable future will consist only of MMP engagements. As SGE stated, this should help explain the partial MMP purchase by NEC.
