Patriot Scientific Names Tech Writer Jim Turley its New Chief Executive

Patriot Scientific Hires Turley: Patriot Scientific Corp., the Carlsbad company that licenses patented technology on a range of microprocessors, named Jim Turley as its new chief executive replacing David Pohl, who will remain as chairman of the company. Turley took over June 5.
A member of Patriot’s board, Turley is the founder of technology analysis firm Silicon Insider.
He is also a former senior vice president of marketing and technology strategy at ARC International, a San Jose public semiconductor licensing firm.
He authored several books on computers and microprocessor technology and previously was editor-in-chief of Embedded Systems Design magazine, and senior editor of Microprocessor Report, an industry journal.
Since 2006, Patriot has been signing major electronics manufacturers to licensing deals for technology it owns with the TPL Group.
Last month, it announced a licensing agreement with cell-phone maker Nokia, bringing the number of licensed manufacturers to 16. Among the others are Hewlett-Packard, Casio, Fujitsu, Sony and Nikon.
Traded on the Over-the-Counter Bulletin Board, shares of Patriot closed at 49 cents June 5, and have ranged from 43 cents to $1.40 during the past 52 weeks.
