Ted Clark is senior vice president and general manager of the Mobile Computing
Global Business Unit at HP. He leads the notebook, handheld and tablet PC businesses
for all market segments worldwide, including enterprise, public sector, small and
medium business, and consumer.
Previously, Clark was vice president of Marketing in the Mobile Computing Global
Business Unit. His team was responsible for consumer and commercial notebook
product strategy and planning; lifecycle management; global pricing; product
positioning and messaging worldwide. He has held a variety of positions throughout his
14 years at HP, including leadership of the handheld and tablet PC businesses, as well
as roles in notebook planning, marketing and development.
In total, Clark has more than 22 years of experience in mobile computing with HP,
Compaq and GRiD Systems. In the mobile sector from its inception, he participated in
the “birth of the laptop computer” when GRiD Systems introduced the first viable flat
panel laptop PC in 1982. During his tenure at HP, he led teams that brought the
company’s award-winning Pocket PC and tablet PC to market.
An esteemed member of the technology community, Clark was honored with a “World
Technology Award” in 2003 for his lifetime achievements in mobile computing. A
highly competitive award, nominees included individuals from organizations such as
Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Microsoft and Sony Corporation.
A native Texan, Clark received his bachelor of science in electrical engineering from
Rice University and his MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at
Northwestern University.
