I hear ya Larry. I agree that all posts SHOULD be taken as merely the poster's opinion. But they're not. My posts typically contain multiple "IMOs" and a sign-off of "I KNOW nuttin'!", just to make it perfectly clear. But when I do state something that I KNOW, you'll see no "IMOs" and a sign-off of "This I KNOW" just to make that perfectly clear.

But a problem arises when a very respected poster, such as Ron (and this is something he should be very proud of) posts something sans the caveats; it will be taken as absolute truth. Perhaps not the intent, but it's the perception that counts. Just throw in an "IMO" and the problem goes away. Three easy little letters.... In this case it was something that may have been very obvious to him, and may even be true, but without substantiation.....

And while this issue may be extremely trivial given that whatever the circumstance, it's done, it demonstrates to a degree the beauty of this board. If someone says something without making it clear that it is merely their opinion, they'll be called on it, and rightfully so. That's what keeps out/exposes the rift-raft.

But I do agree with Ron that when someone does issue an opinion, it should be backed by some logical thought process based on facts or reasonable conjecture, which should be explained to best of the poster's ability. Anyone can throw out wild predictions, positive or negative. But give us a reason to "buy the argument" and be open to DISCUSSION. That's what the board is for, IMO (there I go!).

BTW, did you used to go by the handle "Huntington-Lexus"? If so, we go way back. If not, we go about half as far back (still a long time!).
