Grape harvest started this week, and will go on for about 3-4 weeks (coincidently, same time as dope harvest - major harvests by the DEA in SB county happenning - 40,000 plants yesterday).  But you're right when suggesting there is no real wine season on the drinking end!  And it seems whining is also always in season.
