I equate TA users to gamblers with a system to beat the casinos. The laws of probablities keeps getting in their way, and in the stock market companies evolve, evolution dictates that nothing stays the same. TA dudes will have you believe the past predicts the future, you can learn from the past and you get coincidences that happen that TA people point to, but far to many variables to predict the future.

berredo, while I cannot argue with your statement with regard to 'predicting the future' because of 'too many variables', I beg to differ with regard to equating TA users to gamblers.

I suggest that folks that do not believe in the usefulness of TA, simply do not understand it or know how to use it and therefore dismiss it as 'reading tea leaves'. We are all gamblers here to some extent. Let's face it, this is PennyLand. The only difference is that we are basing our decisions to invest/trade PTSC on more 'educated' analysis than compared to rolling the dice in a casino.

There are many types of market personalities but will consider only these two for simplicity. Traders vs. Investors. While traders rely heavily on Technical Analysis, Investors could care less of what the chart says.

The traders are looking for the best entry/exit points possible for the short term play, and therefore, must rely on TA. Most investors simply want in and will hold long term for the pay-off, with the occasional addition of shares, should the sp drift downward. The trader is usually content with multiple small gains while the investor is in for the huge payday. For traders, every penny, and increments of pennies count for the short term gain. For investors that are holding long term, a few pennies isn't worth the wait.

Yes, TA is the historical landscape that prints on the chart, but past pattern cycles CAN, and I emphasize CAN, assist with charting future, repeating pattern cycles, however, one must consider TA as only part of the equation. One must also consider the 'State of the Union' of the company. What big events are upcoming, i.e. news of licensees, Markman, Mediation Ruling, USPTO ruling, warrants, investor emotions, etc. The trader that uses TA techniques must factor in all of the tangibles as well. TA alone can be utilized with blue chip stocks but TA alone will not work in pennyland.

I've played the casinos and I also use TA (used it with PTSC), so trust me, I'll beat the casino odds every time using TA. Is is 'fool proof'???...no way, but then again, what method is fool proof. As our friend ease2002 would say...."There is no sure thing"

TA is my strength and subsequently, I rely on my strength when pulling the trigger on entry and exit points. I'm weak in other areas. I depend on Folks on this message board for insight with regard to legaleze and I rely on my EE contact for techical aspects to the MMP.

pysop is a very good chartist on this forum and I agree with his and billwilkes assertions that using TA has been at times, an exercise in futility. Yes, it has been difficult to use TA with regard to PTSC, because of the warrant issue but it is not impossible, i.e. once the warrant conversion became somewhat 'publicized' on the board, sp predictability became somewhat easier.

I will continue to use my strengths. They have served me well.

BTW...I do enjoy your posts.

Best Regards,

PxP
