Dear John, Thank you for taking the time to contact my office regarding S. 1145 the Patent Reform Act of 2007. Your input is important to me and I appreciate the time you took to share your thoughts. I understand the importance in protecting intellectual property and patents. As you know, this bill seeks to change current laws as they relate to the patent application process and patent litigation. Given the importance of this legislation, I am continuing to examine this bill. On July 19, 2007, this legislation was approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee. Currently, this bill is waiting Senate consideration. I look forward to hearing the debate on this important issue and I will certainly take your concerns in to consideration.
